ciemnogrodzianin: So now we know.
We have a few sales ending in 24h with literally zero discounts now :D
Yes GOG made an internal error with the sale promos. GOG Back To School Sale will start tomorrow 25th of August unless something drastic changes.

flowingshard123: Which is why I am confused because of it. I initially thought GOG Back To School Sale will start on the 25th due to Story Rich end date until they added Mix, Ukraine Days, Historical and Git Gud promos. The sale promos end on the 25th however for the games itself, the discount end on the 24th.
They again just messed up the timers, even more than usual though. The promos are looking funny now, zero resp. a single game left when you filter by discounted. ;)

This is the first time I seen GOG games discount ended and the Sale Promo still active like this. It is funny to see no game show or maybe 1 when you click show only discounted games filter for these 4 sales promos. GOG may just be focusing on the Pixel Arcadia Showcase that is going to happen about 1 hour from now rather than trying to fix the sale promos. Hopefully more great games will appear on GOG Pixel Arcadia Promo Page during the showcase or right after.

Less than 24 hours left until the GOG Back To School Sale (or whatever the bigger sale event would be called). Going to load up the wallet in wait and hope for discounts for games on my wishlist on the 25th.
I guess the back to school sale lasts until 10/09/2026 09:59 EEST

Not mentioned on the bts sale but every game that has a discount mentions that date.
Noticed it was mentioned in the email i got also.
But not mentioned when visiting the sale on gog main page.

Even Gog thinks it's just another lukewarm sale .

No announcement article on the front page of the store , just a small sized banner .

( wanted to buy some games but they are not on sale )

They might expect to make a lot more money from Dawnwalker and new Witcher 3 content than from the sale, so they're keeping the focus on that.

Or maybe - wishful thinking alert - they are already focusing on the 18th Anniversary Sale?
Huh, I've just thought about it - Witcher 3 Remastered is perfectly slotted into the likely Anniversary Sale window, so that more traffic is going to be directed towards GOG.
This might be a coincidence, but it fits almost too well for me.

Maybe. I think we'll get the Niers then ... or at least hope so. :P

My other hope is that Q4 of this year is filled with banger releases, like last year -

The back to school sale IS just another sale, not sure what some people expected of a mid season sale that's roughly a month away from the store's anniversary lol

And yeah, I'm expecting a loaded Q4 (we could even add september depending on how it goes) with lots of square titles at the very least

As much as I would like for Q4 to be similar to 2025 - which I'd consider probably single best quarter release-wise in GOG history - I don't want to get my hopes up too much, though I am expecting Square to rear it's head with releases, Nier among them.
I'd love to see a Resident Evil on Halloween too, since RE 1 Remake and RE 0 were last Halloween and since then - silence from Capcom.
First though - Anniversary Sale. With the change in management, the patron money and general "things happening" vibe I'm getting from GOG since mr. Kiciński took the reins - this should be quite a fat celebration.
Witcher 3 Remastered coming at the end of the month will be either the crown jewel or an appetizer, depending on the quantity and quality of releases. Not long until we actually see.

Let's hope that their idea of a "crown jewel" is NOT "remaster of a game that didn't need a remaster".

DRM-free NieR: Automata or Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor - now those would be exciting enough to cap a sale.

Agreed, I hope Witcher 3 Remastered is just the thing that will get more traffic to GOG then usual, and THEN there will be some new offers which are going to get a boost in sales because of the traffic (Niers would fit nicely).
I'm not expecting anything special .

You never do, and when something new releases, you don't care anyway lmao

But the anniversary always has something nice
Last year's Anniversary sale was one of the most stacked in terms of releases in recent memory. It started September 25th, which is a Friday this year, so it could be the 24th instead?

This list is a good reference for potential releases
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/games_that_are_unofficially_confirmed_for_release_on_gog_in_the_future_part_3/post3.

in terms of Hidden GOG data, I'm going to hope for Dave The Diver, Detroit: Become Human, TMNT: Shredder's Revenge or Vampire Survivors. All of these I will buy day one if they release. I think a major Square release is also a good bet, possibly the Nier games, I think the chances of the Sony games coming here still has unfortunately decreased with their recent shift, but I would be tempted by The Last of Us.

In terms of surprises, my biggest hopes are for UFO 50 and Balatro.
